This cheesesteak fries recipe is gonna blow your tastebuds into orbit with how good it is… Sliced ribeye, sliced jalapeño and of course cheese - this is how we do it! Flame on, ladies and gents, this is going to be a wild one.
What you’ll need
- 5 inch Ribeye Roast
- Flat top grill/griddle or cast iron skillet
- 1 Yellow Onion, medium sized
- 2 Green Bell Peppers
- 2 Jalapeño Peppers
- Fresh cut or Frozen Fries
- Kosmo’s Q Dirty Bird Hot Rub
- Cheez Whiz
First, let’s get the veggies out of the way. Clean and halve the white onion, then slice into medium thickness slices. Do the same for the bell pepper - only this time, slice along its height. Finally, slice the jalapeños without removing the core and seeds. If you are going for fresh cut fries, slice the potatoes now as well.
When the veggies are ready, set them aside for now. It’s time to move on to the ribeye roast. Remove excess/hard fat, as well as any membranes. If you will be using a slicer, you might wanna remove more fat, since the machine might have trouble cutting trhough that. You can freeze the fat and use it for hamburgers later on.
Next, wrap the roast up in saran wrap, and place it in the freezer for 1-2 hours. This will harden the meat temporarily and allow you to slice it more thinly.
Once the prime rib roast is somewhat frozen, go ahead and slice it into 1/4 inch slices.
Grilling On The Firedisc
For this recipe you will need a flat-top griddle, or you can use a large enough cast iron skillet. I used the Firedisc, which made this extremely easy and efficient to do.
First, throw a stick of butter onto the already hot cooking surface, and let it melt somewhat. Then throw in the veggies and move them around, until the onion starts becoming a little translucent. Then throw in some 1/4 inch steak slices, and season with some Dirty Bird Hot seasoning.
While cooking, start breaking the steak slices apart - either with your spatula or with the help of a knife. We need the meat to be in smaller pieces by the time it ends up on our fries.
Assembling the Cheesesteak Fries
While all of that is going on, go ahead and fry the fries - whether they be fresh or frozen. When everything is ready, it’s time to serve… Yum!
Place a good portion of fries in a bowl or on a plate, followed by the steak & veggie topping we just made. Finally, add as much Cheezwhiz as you like and let it seep through the topping and down to the fries… Oh man, if this cheesesteak fries recipe doesn’t get your mouth wet, nothing will!
