Death by Chocolate Trifle

Death by Chocolate Trifle

Bring your holiday dinner to its peak with this extraordinary chocolate dessert! This is simple to make, and the layers really look good in a clear trifle or glass bowl.

Thanks to Matt Hilbert for sending in this festive recipe he created when he was a teen! We can't wait to hear what y'all do with it.

You Will Need

  • 1 large package instant chocolate mousse
  • 1 1/2 cups cold Μilk
  • 13x9-inch pan of Fudge Brownies
  • 1 package Heath Toffee Bits or 2 chocolate Toffee Candy Bars, crushed into bits
  • 16 ounces whipped cream
  • (optional) ½ tsp Kosmos Q Sweet Honey Pecan rub
  • (optional) 2-3 Tbsp of Kahlua
  • (optional) 1 Tbsp of instant coffee

The Prep

If you're like us, the main criteria when looking for a festive desert is: does it have chocolate? Well this recipe has got you covered - it's no exaggeration that it's name is "Death by Chocolate".

Before you get started, cool the chocolate brownies in the fridge for at least an hour. Then, when you're ready to make the dessert, cut the brownies into bite sized pieces. If you want to go the extra mile, drizzle on a few tablespoons of Kalua before you break them down.

The Cook

Next, prepare the chocolate mousse according to the instructions on the package. Add the 1 1/2 cups of cold milk, then set aside.

Place about half of the brownie bites on the bottom of the trifle bowl (or container of your choice), in a single layer. Start pouring the pudding/mousse on top of the brownies, as evenly as possible. Layer with half of the whipped cream (optionally, mixed with Sweet Honey Pecan and instant coffee), then half of the toffee bits. Then repeat each layer one more time.

The Payoff

Place the chocolate trifle in the fridge and chill for 4 hours. Serve while cold, and make sure it's enough for seconds!

Once more, thanks to Matt Hilbert for sharing his Death by Chocolate trifle recipe with the community - we hope you enjoy.
