Sausage Egg and Cheese Biscuits | $5 Breakfast Recipe

Sausage Egg and Cheese Biscuits | $5 Breakfast Recipe

Sausage biscuits are a great way to make a cheap breakfast. Next time you take the family camping make sure that you add this easy recipe to your list. It sure is a crowd pleaser!

You Will Need

The Prep

Here's a free pro tip for y'all: if you've tried grilling a sausage, you know that the moment it touches the grill it starts losing its shape. There's no way it will stay round... Unless you freeze it! Throw your breakfast sausage in the freezer the night before. When you're about to cook, run it under hot water for 10-15 seconds just to thaw the outmost layer. And boom - it will hold its shape while cooking, and you'll have your perfect round slices.

For this delicious breakfast, just light up a chimney's worth of charcoal and dump it in your kettle (or other grill) when it's ready. Adding a couple of apple wood chunks for flavor will do the trick.

Finally, get the sausage out of the packaging (will be easy after thawing the outer layer). Season with Dirty Bird Hot, or your favorite spice blend.

The Cook

You should be good to go! Simply place the fatty over indirect heat, in such a way that its side looks toward the heat source. Close the lid, and have a cold one while you wait.

Let it cook for about 30 minutes, rotating about every 5 minutes to cook evenly. Pull when internal temperature hits 165ºF (74ºC).

Next up, the biscuits. Grab a foil pan and grease with spray butter. Arrange the biscuits in there, and place the pan on the cooker. Keep an eye on those, they can burn easily! Keep spinning & flipping until they are done.

Finally, grab your cast iron skillet and cook your eggs in some butter. Season with a tiny pinch of Dirty Bird Hot for that extra flavor!

The Payoff

When everything is done and off the cooker, it's time to assemble some kick-ass breakfast sausage biscuits!

Slice the sausage - 2 thin slices per biscuit. Cut the biscuits open, and stack the sausage, cheese, and fried egg on top. And that's all there is to it!
