Barbecue Pizza on the Pit Barrel!

Brace yourselves, because this will change how you cook pizza forever. No fancy dedicated pizza oven needed, just your trusty barrel cooker and a cold beer.

You Will Need

The Prep

Have you ever thought "what if I could smoke pizza on a smoker?" 

Well, we're here to tell you that you can, and you should! Whether is store bought pizza, or one you made with home-made dough, you can easily make it work. The only limit is the cooking space on your pit - anything else goes.

If you're making your own, make sure to spread some flour on the plate you assemble the pizza on. This will make transporting it and sliding it onto the grill grates a lot easier.

If, on the other hand, you go for the prepackaged option, don't forget to remove all wrapping before taking it near the heat. Oh, and this is a great time to customize it! Want your pizza extra cheesy? Add as much cheese as your heart can handle. Do you enjoy a spicy kick? A light coat of Dirty Bird Hot will do the trick.

The Cook

Finally, let's get cooking! Preheat the pit barrel to a medium-high temperature, and make sure the grill grates are pristine clean. You don't want to rip the pizza apart when it's stuck after the cook.

When the pit is up to temp, throw on the pizza(s)! It's as easy as ABC from here - just wait for the heat to work its magic. No, don't keep peeking, and don't keep stabbing the pizza with a fork. Just watch the dough rise until it gets as crusty as you enjoy it.

The Payoff

Once the pizza is done, bring it inside, cut it up, and serve immediately! No use resting it, you want that molten cheese to drip from every piece.
