Making Guga's "Life Changing Burger" (V2.0)

Guaranteed, you won't see this coming! Elevate your burger game with this life-changing burger recipe. Juicy patties, creamy sauce, and a surprising secret ingredient—this burger is a true masterpiece.

You Will Need

  • 80/20 hamburger meat
  • 2 packets of French onion soup mix
  • Sliced American cheese
  • Brioche buns with sesame seeds
  • Kosmos Q Wat'cha Dill Pickles

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup of Duke’s Mayo
  • ⅔ cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire

The Prep

Let's begin with the preparation - this will make your life easier throughout the cook. First up, let's make the sauce: Add the sauce ingredients in a bowl: Duke's Mayo, ketchup, yellow mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk together until fully combined. Then set the sauce aside (or in the fridge) for later.

Next, it's time to shape the burger patties. Take the 80/20 hamburger meat and form it into 3-ounce balls. Having perfectly portioned balls will ensure even cooking and a mouthwatering texture.

The Cook

Now that we have our patties ready and our burger sauce prepared, it's time to cook these beauties to perfection. Heat up your griddle until it's nice and hot. Place the formed burger balls onto the griddle and immediately smash them flat with a sturdy spatula (or dedicated smash burger spatula). This flattens the patties, allowing for an even cooking surface and creating those irresistible crispy edges.

Let the patties sear for about 30 seconds. Then sprinkle the onion dip powder onto each patty, ensuring they are generously coated. The onion powder will give  your patties a savory and slightly tangy punch, complementing the rich meat perfectly.

After seasoning, carefully flip the patties. Cook the patties until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), ensuring they are thoroughly cooked. When they are done, place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty and cover them for about 30 seconds to melt it.

The Payoff

Now comes the moment we've all been waiting for—assembling the burgers! First spread a generous layer of the prepared burger sauce onto the bottom bun. Then stack two of the thin patties and place them on the bottom bun. Top it off with some sliced pickles, and the sesame seed-studded top bun.

As is customary, you will want to give the burgers one last gentle smash, allowing all the components to meld together and intensify the flavors. Τhe only thing that's left is to sink your teeth into it, and feel the juicy, creamy, and tangy perfection fill your mouth.

This recipe was inspired by Guga's very own Life Changing Burger (v2) recipe, with a few additions by yours truly. We hope you have fun with it, catch you on the next one!
