Sweet Honey Bacon Recipe

Sweet Honey Bacon Recipe

A delicious sweet, chewy, crispy and savory treat!  Super fast & easy to do, no matter what you're cooking with - be it a grill, smoker or even in the oven.

Thank you Timothy Martin of Smell That Smoke BBQ M.K.E. for this recipe!

You Will Need

The Prep

So, this recipe is a quick one - don't blink or you'll miss it! Grab a wired cookie/drying rack and grease it so the bacon won't stick. Then place the rack on top of a baking pan. Lay out the bacon strips on top.

What you want to do now, is layer on a few different flavors. Starting with some Cherry Apple Habanero rib glaze, give the top side a thin coat.

Next, sprinkle on a coat of brown sugar. As it melts later in the cook, it will coat the bacon.

Finally, sprinkle on some black pepper and Sweet Honey Pecan rub. These will add to the flavor profile of your sweet honey bacon.

The Cook

Time to get cooking! Fire up your cooker (or oven), and preheat to 350ºF (177ºC). Place the rack with the bacon over heat that's as indirect as possible - we don't want to burn the spices we layered on there.

Let the bacon cook for 25-30 minutes. If you check in at the 25 minute mark, and the edges have still not caramelized or crisped up, don't be afraid to give it 10 more minutes.

The Payoff

When the bacon reaches your desired crispness, pull the rack off the heat. Make sure to let it cool down a little (it will be molten lava)!

Then remove the sweet honey bacon from the drying rack, and place on parchment paper. Store in a zipper bag or airtight container for later, or enjoy right away!

Once more, big thanks to Timothy Martin of Smell That Smoke BBQ M.K.E. for this recipe. It's going to be great on snacks, Christmas cookies, sandwiches, burgers, chopped in salads or tacos, or even garish for your adult beverages.

Catch you on the next recipe!
