BBQ Glazed French Toast with Bacon

BBQ Glazed French Toast with Bacon

There's no better way to start your day, than with glazed french toast with bacon. This hearty meal will make sure you start off with all the energy you need, and a smile on your face!

You Will Need

  • French Toast:
    • Loaf of brioche bread OR Texas Toast slices
    • 3 whole eggs
    • 2 egg yolks
    • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp fine sea salt
    • 1 ½ Tbsp light brown sugar
    • Pinch of nutmeg
    • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
    • ¾ cup whole milk
    • Unsalted butter
    • Kosmo's Q Maple Bourbon BBQ Glaze
  • BBQ Glazed Bacon

The Prep

Let's get right into it! For the french toast, grab a medium bowl. Whisk together the eggs and egg yolks with ground cinnamon, fine sea salt, light brown sugar, and nutmeg. Once combined, also whisk in the heavy cream and whole milk.

Pour the mixture into a dish - this is what you will soak the toast in. Slice loaf of brioche bread to your desired thickness, and start preheating the griddle.

While the griddle is heating up, dunk bread in liquid mixture, allow to rest for a few seconds, then flip and repeat. Set the soaked slices aside on a plate.

To prep the bacon, separate the individual strips on a cutting board. Cover one side of the bacon with Dirty Bird HOT rub, flip, and repeat.

The Cook

Once the griddle is hot, melt enough unsalted butter to cover the cooking area. Add brioche slices to griddle, and cook for 3 minutes per side. When done, move the French toast slices to a clean plate, top with butter, and drizzle with Maple Bourbon BBQ Glaze.

Next, add the bacon strips to a pan or on the griddle. Cook to your desired level of crispiness. When done, move to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess grease.  Cover with another layer of paper towels and gently press down.

OPTIONAL: once the grease has been absorbed, add another layer of rub.

The Payoff

Almost done! Get a small microwave safe bowl, and pour in some Apricot Pie BBQ Glaze and heat it up. Transfer bacon to a clean surface, and arrange into a single layer. Use your basting brush to coat the bacon with  the warm Apricot Pie BBQ Glaze.

Enjoy your French Toast & bacon breakfast! As always, feel free to customize this recipe to your liking, and substitute any ingredients with the one you enjoy most. And let us know what you'd do differently, your ideas are always an inspiration.
