Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs!

Whether Father's Day is around the corner or you just want to surprise your dad with something he'll love, this hearty, down-home breakfast of chicken fried steak and eggs is the perfect choice. It's a simple, delicious way to show your appreciation and love!

You Will Need

  • 1 lb. of Beef Round Steak, cubed
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 2 TBSP Double Pepper Cow Cover
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 bottle of veggie oil for frying
  • 2 white pepper gravy packets
  • SPG to taste
  • Coarse black pepper
  • Eggs
  • Frozen hashbrowns (optional)

The Prep

Start by preparing your dredging stations. In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, SPG, and Double Pepper Cow Cover. Mix these together well. In another shallow dish, whisk together the beaten eggs and buttermilk until you have a smooth, uniform mixture.

Before you start frying, it’s important to get everything in place. Set up your fryer or large skillet and pour in enough veggie oil to submerge the steaks, heating it over medium-high heat. Let the oil come up to a temperature of 350°F (177ºC) to ensure a perfect fry. Finally, line a plate with paper towels to drain the steaks after frying, and have your gravy packets ready to mix according to the directions.

The Cook

Once your dredging stations are set, take each piece of cubed beef round steak and dredge it in the seasoned flour, making sure it’s well-coated. Next, dip it into the egg and buttermilk mixture. Repeat the process once more for an extra crispy texture.

When your oil is hot and ready, fry the steaks in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. You want them to cook evenly and maintain the oil temperature. Fry each steak until golden brown on all sides, which should take about 3-4 minutes per side. Once cooked, place the steaks on the paper towel-lined plate to any excess oil.

While the steaks rest, prepare the eggs to your liking. For this recipe, we recommend sunny side up, but feel free to cook them any way you prefer. If you’re including hashbrowns, cook them on the griddle with a little oil until they’re crispy and golden brown. Prepare the white pepper gravy according to the packet instructions.

The Payoff

Time to plate everything up! Arrange the chicken fried steak, eggs, and hashbrowns on a plate. Generously pour the white peppered gravy over the steak and hashbrowns.

Serve hot, and enjoy this hearty, satisfying meal that’s perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Alton Brown's Burger Of The Gods vs. Kosmo's Favorite Burger

This is a tale of two burgers: one built on technique and restraint, the other on big flavors and indulgence. Alton Brown’s Burger of the Gods goes old-school and precise, while Kosmo’s favorite burger leans unapologetically indulgent and messy.
