Peanut Butter & Jelly Cheeseburgers

The PB&J cheeseburger might sound ...unusual, but don't knock it until you try it! It’s the kind of flavor mash-up that surprises in the best way. Sweet jelly, creamy peanut butter, smoky bacon, and spicy candied jalapeños come together with a juicy burger patty for a bold bite worth trying at least once.

You Will Need

  • 1 lb ground beef (makes 5–6 thin patties for stacking)
  • 5 sesame seed brioche buns
  • Kosmos Q Killer Bee Honey rub
  • Peanut butter (smooth or chunky, your choice)
  • Grape jelly
  • 10 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 8 slices of Cheddar cheese
  • Kosmos Q Candied Jalapeños

The Prep

Before you even light up the griddle, take a moment to prep your ingredients. Divide the ground beef into 5–6 portions – the goal here is to make thin patties since you’ll be stacking two per burger. Keep them loose and avoid overworking the meat, which helps maintain tenderness once cooked. Also, slice the brioche buns in half and set them aside.

The bacon is the first thing to hit the griddle. Lay out the thick-cut slices and cook them to your preferred level of crispiness. Since bacon renders plenty of fat, you won’t need to grease the surface. Once done, set the bacon aside on a paper towel to drain, but keep that rendered fat on the griddle, since it’s going to add flavor to everything that follows.

The Cook

Now it’s time for the star of the show: the burger patties. Place them on the hot griddle, press down with a sturdy spatula to flatten, and season generously with Kosmos Q Honey Killer Bee rub. When you see the edges starting to crisp and brown, flip each patty and immediately add a slice of cheddar cheese to each. The cheese will melt right over the hot patty, locking in that smoky-sweet seasoning.

While the burgers cook, don’t forget the buns. Add a bit of butter to the griddle and give each brioche bun half a quick toast. They should be golden and slightly crisp on the edges, perfect for holding up against all the toppings.

By now, the patties should be fully cooked through with gooey cheese on top. Stack the patties in pairs and pull them off the heat, ready for assembly.

The Payoff

This is where the PB&J cheeseburger goes from quirky idea to full-on flavor bomb. Start with the bottom bun and spread on a layer of peanut butter. On the top bun, spread the grape jelly. Add 2 stacked cheesy patties right on top of the peanut butter base, then add your crispy bacon strips for smoky crunch.

To finish, spoon a few candied jalapeños over the bacon for a sweet heat that cuts through the sweetness. Cap it all with the jelly-topped bun and take a bite.

The result is sweet, savory, creamy, spicy, and smoky all at once - a flavor combination that hits every corner of your palate. It might not be your everyday burger, but when you’re in the mood for something different, the PB&J cheeseburger delivers in a big way.
