The Moist Maker: Ross Geller's Thanksgiving Sandwich

The Moist Maker: Ross Geller's Thanksgiving Sandwich

Ross (yes, the one from Friends) was spot-on when he came up with the Moist Maker: the ultimate leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwich. It's got gravy, it's got stuffing, it's got all the goodies to make our mouths moist, since its first TV appearance in 1998.

Ingredients

  • 3 slices of thick cut bread
  • 1 cup of chopped turkey breast
  • 1 cup of gravy
  • 1 cup of stuffing
  • 1/2 cup of cranberry sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of Kewpie mayo
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Kosmos Q Sweet Apple Chipotle BBQ Sauce
  • Kosmos Q Dirty Bird HOT rub

Tools & Materials

  • Knife
  • Sauce pan
  • Cutting board
  • Mixing bowl
  • Plate
  • Stove/single burner

The Cook

Assuming it's the day after Thanksgiving, you should have more than enough leftover turkey and stuffing for a sandwich or two. Or maybe you just found last year's leftovers deep inside your freezer and are looking for the best quick recipe to use them!

So, let's get started! While the turkey is warming up, grab 3 slices of bread (per sandwich), and place them on the plate you will be serving on. This will be a double decker sandwich, so get ready to stack'em high!

Start by spreading mayo across two out of three slices of bread. These will be the top and bottom slices. Place them next to each other, and add toppings to both in the same order: Lettuce, a slice of tomato, turkey, and stuffing.

Now drizzle one stack with Sweet Apple Chipotle BBQ sauce, while the other gets some Cranberry Sauce. Give both a hit with Dirty Bird HOT before moving on to the final step.

The Payoff

Time for Ros's signature move - the thing that gives this sandwich its name in the first place. Remember that third slice of toast you didn't spread any mayo on? Now is its moment to shine!

Get that slice of toast and dip right into the gravy! That's right, this is the Moist Maker. If for some reason you want to be less messy, you can simply spread gravy on both sides. But what's the fun in that?

When done, top one of the loaded up slices with the "Moist Maker". Then flip this sandwich over, and use it to top the other half. You should now have a two stories tall, mother-of-all-turkey sandwiches!

Slice and enjoy - Happy Thanksgiving!
