Cheeseburger Pie Recipe

Big thanks to Timothy Martin of Smell That Smoke BBQ for sharing this recipe with the community!

You Will Need

The Prep

When we first saw this recipe, we thought "huh, that sounds interesting!" - and boy, were we right. To the nay sayers: you can absolutely have a pie that tastes and feels like a cheeseburger, and it's amazing. Thank us later.

Note: this is an intentionally bare-bones recipe. It works on its own, but feel free to customize it to your heart's content (as you would with an actual cheeseburger)!

The Cook

Step one, get all of the ingredients prepared. It's a quick recipe, so you want to have everything at the ready. Heat up some vegetable oil in a skillet, and add the chopped red onion.

When the onion starts getting translucent, add the ground beef and keep it moving until it has browned. Then drain the grease and set aside.

Spray the pans you will be using for the pie with cooking spray. Then divide the ground beef & onions mix to the pans. In a bowl, mix the milk, eggs, and bisquick, then pour on top of the beef in the pans. Finally, top with cheddar cheese.

Place the pans in the oven or on a smoker preheated to 400ºF (204ºC).

The Payoff

The cheeseburger pie needs to cook for approximately 30 minutes, until the cheese on top has bubbled and formed a crust. Rotate the pans halfway through to get an even cook.

When ready, let the pie rest for 5-10 minutes, then serve while still warm!
