BBQ On A Budget: Drumsticks

BBQ On A Budget: Drumsticks

These Drumsticks are an easy, flavorful way to turn affordable chicken drumsticks into a backyard BBQ favorite. They're seasoned with bold Kosmos Q Double Pepper Cow Cover, cooked low and steady until tender, then finished over high heat with a sticky layer of Competition BBQ Sauce for lightly charred, caramelized skin. Let's get to it.

You Will Need

The Prep

The key to flavorful drumsticks starts with a simple coating of olive oil and plenty of bold seasoning.

Pat the 3 lbs of chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. Lightly coat the drumsticks with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then season generously on all sides with 2–3 tablespoons of Kosmos Q Double Pepper Cow Cover.

Make sure each drumstick is evenly coated. Let them sit for a few minutes while you get the smoker fired up.

The Smoker Setup

Preheat your smoker to 300°F (149°C).

Arrange the seasoned drumsticks on a wire rack over a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each piece so the heat can circulate evenly.

The Cook

Place the drumsticks in the smoker and cook for about 45–50 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of around 165°F (74°C).

Keep an eye on the drumsticks as they cook. The goal is to get them tender and cooked through while building plenty of smoky flavor.

The Grill Finish

While the drumsticks are finishing in the smoker, preheat your grill to 450°F (232°C).

Once the drumsticks reach about 165°F, transfer them to a pan and coat them evenly with the 4 ounces of Kosmos Q Original Competition BBQ Sauce.

Place the sauced drumsticks on the hot grill and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, turning as needed. Let the sauce tack up and the skin develop a light char without letting the sauce burn.

Continue grilling until the drumsticks reach an internal temperature of 175–185°F (79–85°C).

The Payoff

That's it! You've got tender, smoky drumsticks with bold Double Pepper Cow Cover seasoning, sticky Competition BBQ Sauce, and lightly charred skin.

Remove the drumsticks from the grill and let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

Affordable chicken, simple prep, and big BBQ flavor without breaking the bank.
